Confucius was a Chinese philosopher and a teacher of the Chinese religious beliefs who lived from 550 to 449 BC. Confucius propagated the Confucianism way of life in the 6th-5th century BCE, which the Chinese People strictly followed for more than two millennia. Confucius serves as a significant Icon for the Chinese since Confucianism, though transformed over time, still serves as a potential substance of learning, a vital source of value and social codes of the Chinese religious beliefs (Csikszentmihalyi, 2020). Unlike Buddha, who serves as the primary founder of Buddhism, Confucius did not consider himself the founder of Confucianism but instead its transmitter to the Chinese people. Confucius consciously tried to reanimate the old to attain the new by revitalizing the meaning of the past and advocating for a ritualized life. He had a strong sense of history and defined himself as a conservationist whose responsibility towards continuity of cultural values and social norms remained defined as he tirelessly worked for the idealized civilization of the Western Zhou dynasty.
Dao is a term that is used in all schools of Chinese philosophy, including Confucianism. It is a term that predates the rise of Daoism with its literal meanings, including way, path, course, speech and method (Saatchi and Zafarnavaei, 2021). It can be best defined as the natural way.
