Introduction Physical exercises prove essential in enhancing good health. Gym is among the major areas where people take their physical exercises using weights, machines and other equipments that enhance body fitness. However, as much as gym sessions stimulates various brain chemicals that leaves the exerciser more relaxed, happier and less anxious, the session may prove boring. Music proves a potential power in fighting boredom thus very essential in a gymnasium room. However different genres impact the physical exercisers differently thus the need to understand what music works best on an individual-level gym workout performance. This experimental research examined the correlation between music and gym workout performances. The study analyzed the effect of rock, pop and rap music genre on gym workout performances. The study hypothesized that different music genre have different effects on the overall gym workout. After 30 day workout with consistent recording of the performance effect, the study concluded that rap genre enhances relaxation and motivates the exerciser to engage in more workouts. The study further considered various literature reviews from other scholars on the subject to confirm or refute the current studyโ€™s hypothesis. Lovers of physical exercises especially ones facilitated through gym understand that gym workouts are really addictive. Though one can engage in physical exercise during any preferred time, gym workouts work best for many during morning hours or evening hours when the temperatures are relatively cool.
