Sports involve any physical activity that a person engages in for pleasure or exercise. The need to analyze how sports benefit the development through adolescence is essential in understanding the impacts of sports on human development. Engaging in sports improves humans’ personality and keeps all body organs alert, which proves essential for any developing teenager. Adolescence is a challenging developmental stage as involves physical and hormonal changes thus essential to involve its members in sports as it positively improves their health, emotional balance, strength, and skills, leading to a long healthy life. The research offers an analysis of different scholars’ views on the relationship between sports and healthy development during adolescence. The analysis will offer light on the level of benefits that involving adolescent students in sport has in development of their cognitive performance, self-esteem and academic success. Schools have a significant role of establishing organized sport participation programs to keep the adolescent students engaged. Teachers, parents’ and the society at large have a role in helping adolescent engage in positive activities like sports to enhance a healthy transition period.

Some people are very poor academically, but their personality remains defined by their sports engagement. For instance, through sports, a teenager's character may become built through developments in critical and analytical thinking, goal setting and risk-taking, shaping the future of such an adolescent powerfully.
